What is the EHEapp?

The EHEapp is a journalling app specifically developed for home educators.

Why isn't it free?

It has taken the developers many years to develop the EHEapp. In order to improve and maintain the app going forward the developers need to eat. There are three ways this can be achieved. Adverts – we fill the app with adverts (which we personally hate) and if one advertiser becomes our primary source of income they effectively have control of the app.  We did not like this option. Local authorities – we sell the service to local authorities and so become dependent on them and inevitably end up representing their interests. We did not like this option. Finally, we charge a small amount to the people we care about, home educators, and so we remain independent and continue to represent the best interests of home educators. We liked this option laughing

Are you selling my data to Facebook?

No, we didn’t spend years developing an app just so we could harvest the data to sell to Facebook or other large evil coorporation.  If we’d wanted to do this we would have simply put some quizzes on X. Now we would say this woudn’t we – ah, the rabbit hole has opened…

What happens if I lose my phone?

Every time you make an entry the app pushes that entry to your online journal available at www.eheapp.co.uk/journal If you lose your phone all your data is safely backed up online.

What happens when I get a new phone?

If you change phone you simply download the app again and log in with the same account details you used on the previous phone. The app may ask you to subscribe again, we’re sorry about this but it’s a thing,  however you can simply press the restore subsciption option and it will find your previous subscription using your account details.

Can I use the app on more than one device?

No – the app works on one device at a time.

Is my data secure?

This is an excellent question and really important. The only way to know that an app is secure is to make sure the company developing it has been independently audited and follows a recognised information security system. The gold standard for information security systems is ISO27001. If you are storing information that you do not want to be in the public realm we believe that this is the minimum standard you should be looking for. The vast majority of businesses creating apps are not ISO certified. We are and we follow best practise in every aspect of our app development.
