Developed by graduates of home education

The EHEapp was created by a team of three, two of whom were home educated themselves, one of whom has been home educating for over 25 years. We truly understand the incredible value of home education. You can read more about our personal journey on the ‘About Us‘ page. We designed this app as a tool to help home educators easily document their children’s educational journey.

 Features

The EHEapp has been developed with a set of unique features to help make journaling your child’s educational journey an easy and enjoyable experience.

Multiple entries per day

Life happens all the time and everywhere – the app allows entries to be added as easily as sending a chat message wherever and whenever you like.

Tagging

When you make an entry you can add as many tags as you like to quickly and easily see exactly what you’ve been up to and get immediate feedback on the educational elements of the entry.

educational philosophy

The app has an educational philiosophy generator that is 100% home education positive and deals with many of the negative stereotypes home educators often have to address.

siblings

Add as many of your children as you need. Each child has a completely unique and individual journal.

Secure Sharing

You don’t have to share anything – you can simply use the app as a way of journaling your educational journey – or you can share as much or as little as you want. You are in complete control of your data at all times.

Secure Storage

The best journal in the world is of no value if it can’t be easily accessed. We provide easily accessible secure online storage to ensure your journal is always accessible.

Security

While keeping a journal is a great way of removing the stress from evidencing your child’s education, the security of the information you journal is also paramount. ISO27001 is the gold standard in information security and Zergles LLP, the developers of the EHEapp is  independently audited to ensure it conforms to all  ISO27001 standards.

Online Storage Portal

All the entries you create are accessible at our secure online portal.

Accessibility

Our secure online portal is accessible at all times. You have complete control over what is stored, how long it is stored for, and when it is removed. You also have complete control over what, if anything, is shared; how long it is shared; and who it is shared with.

ANALYSIS

This is where all that tagging comes into its own. You can see exactly what you’ve done and you can see what this looks like in terms of the numeracy, literacy, STEM, life skills and socialisation.

Entries

One of the great things about having the EHEapp on your phone is that your phone is always with you so you can log your educational journey pretty much in realtime. What you log is entirely up to you. It might be a simple entry about a lesson completed or it may be a brief overview of a chat you had. The joy of home educating is that almost everything counts whether it is the beauty to be found in a sonnet or the practicality of a interpreting a flat pack instruction manual.

#tags

Demo of tagging an english literature entry

Every entry in the EHEapp has one or more tags – a tag is simply the category the activity falls into. So if you go out to see some live music with some friends you might tag it #outing #social #music. The app uses these tags to keep track of educational elements. It also uses tags to sort your entries so you can see exactly what you’ve been up to.

Progress

Every entry in the EHEapp can be marked as progress, you simply press the light bulb icon and the entry will be highlighted with a yellow border and you will then be able to quickly and easily sort your entries to see where progress has been made.  For a bit more of an in-depth look into what progress is see our blog post on progress.

Photos

demo of photos being added to an entry

Smartphones have released the inner photo journalist in all of us and there’s no better use of all this chronicling than adding meaning and context to your educational journey whatever route you’ve decided to take. Every entry – and remember you can have as many entries a day as you need – can have one or more photos attached. This could be of a piece of work or an outing to a museum; a photo makes your entries both more enjoyable to make and more fun to look back on.
